This is on our site’s footer: https://d.pr/i/4Ain4U

Facebook is completely wrong, YouTube and Instagram are missing.

I’m almost completely sure I’ve filled all API keys correctly in the admin.

      Any help?

You’re right, Jacob, I pasted the wrong Channel ID for YouTube. Working now.

I’ll wait for the other fixes.

It seems to have fixed Facebook, but Instagram is still showing up 0.

WordPress also alerted me of a new error:

An error type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused on line 162 of file /home/macmagazine/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-social-counter/wp-social-counter.php. Hi, fb and tw are fine, the rest is missing.
instagram: it’s not the right amount of followers
      youtube: at least 1000 followers

For now, can I just edit line 56 in inc/public/frontend.php? Like this:

      Would that work?

Instagram is coming and going. It was showing the correct number earlier today, now it’s back at 0.

It seems there’s a communication error sometimes and it returns 0.

The plugin should store the last value and only update it if Instagram’s server returns a new, updated and valid number.

(That applies to all social networks, BTW.)

      It’s currently at 0 again.

If you’re already caching, then it shouldn’t update the cache if the server returns 0 or something.

That’s why it needs to be cached and not updated if Instagram doesn’t return a real number.

Actually, I wouldn’t mind even if this number is only updated once, let’s say, every 3 days.

I think you should look for another plugin to replace that one, I still have conflicts too and I had to uninstall it. It would also be good if everyone can add by hand the number of followers both in the social counter and in visualizations, sharing, likes, etc.

I’ve loaded the site in an incognito window and I can see the photo widget, but I’m not seeing it when logged-in to WordPress. Is it logged the same way as the “load more” posts button, using Ajax/security nonces?

That’s a nice tip, but I rather see the site just as my readers do, otherwise I might not catch some problems.

Since I’ve decreased WP Rocket’s cache lifetime to 1 hour, things seem to be working better. I’ll keep running tests.
