For my homepage, I’ve created a hero post block on the top with 6 posts from our “Destaques” category.
I sometimes want posts to stay there a bit longer, so I select the “sticky” option from WordPress.
However, that isn’t working on my Newsbeat setup. As soon as I published the 6th new “Destaques” post, the one that was set to sticky disappeared from the hero block.
How can we make that work correctly, please?

I’ve actually noticed that no post blocks at all respect WordPress’ sticky setting. I need to enable that, somehow.

I really need sticky posts to work in the Hero Block, Jacob. Is it very hard to make it work?
Thanks.

So Jacob, this is the new related option in 1.0.7?
Use Sticky Posts only?
Check this option to list Sticky Posts on hero banner, specified tags/categories will be ignored! If so, it doesn’t fit me at all.
I don’t want my Hero category to be ignored, I want it to work as it does today and, IF (if!) there’s one of more sticky posts activated, they’ll be the first to show up inside the Hero Banner.
Can you help, please? This is very important for us.

Of course you can, I had it working on my previous theme.
You just need to check if there’s any sticky posts in the database. If so, show them first and then the rest of the custom WP Query.
At least one single sticky post first would solve the issue for me, it doesn’t need to be multiple sticky posts. I need to be able to have at least one enabled.

That would only be a problem for someone that doesn’t use any caching plugins. All queries should just run once and get cached for at least a few minutes…

Sorry, Jacob, I don’t understand what that code does exactly.
What I need is very simple: be able to make any post from the site sticky (just one post per time) and have it appear on the first spot inside the hero banner. That’s it…

Doesn’t work as it should. It replaced all 6 posts from the hero banner section with the only one set to sticky.

Listen, I’m not asking anything absurd. This worked perfectly on my previous theme.
Newsbeat’s code should just check if there’s any sticky post set, then put it on the first hero banner section position. That’s it.

When did I say that, Jacob? It can’t be this hard.
I want the hero banner section to continuing show the latest 6 posts from my “Destaques” category, as it is today.
However, if there’s one post set as sticky in my whole WordPress database, it should appear in the first spot of the hero banner section, which would then show the other latest 5 posts from “Destaques”.
If it makes it any easier for you, the sticky post can also be inside the “Destaques” category for that to work.
That’s it.

There’s something wrong. As soon as I added that code to custom-functions.php, the last post from the hero banner disappeared.
It should only swap the first post from the hero banner with a sticky post IF there’s a sticky post set, that’s it.
