In the latest version of Safari on my iPad the dropdown from the previous page does not close when using the browser’s back button. The page needs to be reloaded to force the “stuck” dropdown to close. Can this be easily fixed?

Disabling the browser’s back button is not an option. Is there another solution?

      Hi Rooney Boy.

Well after several attempts I finally got the code working.

You’re more than welcome to add this code to 3D Mega Menu. If you add please give me credit. Also, worth noting, with this fix your menu would be literally the only mega menu I’ve seen that fully works in Safari for iPad, iPhone and iPod.

      Definitely.

      Steps to create the problem
      1. Visit http://direct.kxmode.com/aws/megamenu/menuforbootstrap3/ in Safari on your iPad
      2. Click on “Media” or “Test 1”
      3. After the linked website loads click your browser’s back button
      4. Notice the dropdown is stuck.

I’ve attached the demo files so you can look at them in detail. I’m curious to know what the issue is.

Edit: Here’s the download link for the demo files.

<body onunload=””> did not work in Safari on the iPad. So is this pretty much a bug with Safari on the iPad? I’m okay with this as long as I can tell my boss it’s a browser bug that Apple hasn’t fixed.

Hi I was able to get this far.
      http://pastebin.com/N9mc2Reg

What the above solution does is:
      – Forces the dropdown to close by forcing the browser to refresh after clicking the browser’s back button
      – Closes the dropdown if tapping anywhere outside the dropdown.

But this is still a buggy solution.
      http://direct.kxmode.com/aws/megamenu/menuforbootstrap3/working.html

If you visit the above link in Safari on your iPad and tap each of the main menu links you’ll see the hover highlight “shifts”. What I mean by “shift” is if you tap “Test 5”, for a second “Test 9 Full Width” highlights first, then “Test 5” is highlighted.

Is there a more elegant way to resolve this issue?

      Here’s the files from above.
