    Hi, I’m a little disappointed in your support. I didn’t know that you don’t respond to emails asking for support. My first email for support was replied to, but my other ones were not. It wasn’t until I read the tiny print on your contact page that reads “Note: If you encounter any problems please visit our support forum, we don’t support via email.Period!” I completely understand this, but just wish you had this noted in additional places, including on ThemeForest, and I also would have appreciated if you replied to my emails stating this. I would have gladly posted for support here instead. Besides this, I’m REALLY happy with the Sparkle theme so I won’t deduct any stars on ThemeForest. You deserve the five stars. Anyway, here are the things I need help with:

    1. How do I change the size of the article titles for the “Popular/Random” sections of the sidebar. NOT the smart tabby titles, but the actual article titles. The font is just a little too small with the large images I’m showing.

    2. What lines of the CSS do I edit to make the desktop header taller? My logo is hanging off the bottom of the header and needs some more room.

    3. Is there any way to change the size of the font in the responsive mobile slideout menu using custom CSS instead of the dashboard? I’m happy with the size of my desktop header menu font, but I just want to increase the font of the responsive mobile menu. It’s too tiny and the Sparkle dashboard only allows increasing both together. Perhaps you can separate them in a future update to allow different configurations in the dashboard?

    4. What line(s) of CSS do I edit to change the “Read more…” button color? I need blue with white text instead of gray on gray.

    5. Lastly, how do I enable shortcodes to appear in the “After Header (750×90)” and “After single post (750×90)” in the Ads Manager section? I enabled shortcodes in my sidebar using the custom functions file in the child theme but I can’t figure out how to do the After Header and After single post sections. I need the following shortcodes to work:

    [adrotate group=”1″]

    [ninja-inline id=5003]

    Thank you for your time and help!

    Hi,

    Thanks so much again! Most of these fixes were very easy. I’ve just run into a few other problems that I hope you can help me with.

    1.) Now that I’ve increased the font size, the text in the responsive slideout menu gets truncated after a certain number of characters. Is there any way to stop this and instead move the text that is truncated to the next line? Like what happens in the desktop dropdown when a category name is long.

    2.) Is there any way I can remove the blank space above the author bio section on a single post? I don’t use post tags and have that option hidden, but it leaves a wide gap between the bottom of a post and the author’s bio section. I want to remove that an bring up the bio.

    3.) I’m having an issue with the desktop dropdown on small screens. Some of my post titles are long, so on a small screen the dropdown compresses the images and titles together, which then seems to push one (or a few) of the post images and titles down into the far left corner of the dropdown menu, making them almost impossible to see. I think this is due to the top row of titles being too close to the second row of post images. If a top row title is long, then it pushes the below image and title far down. I guess the best solution right now is to add some more space between the top row and the other rows. How can I do this? And perhaps you can address this issue in your next update.

    4.) Another issue I noticed with the desktop dropdown, is that when there are numerous categories listed, making for a long dropdown, sometimes it’s impossible to scroll through the whole menu. Instead, the post or page behind the menu scrolls instead, never allowing you to reach the bottom of the menu. It doesn’t happen all the time, but enough that I worry my users are encountering this problem. Is there a possible solution? Or can you look into it for your next update?

    5.) How do you change the desktop dropdown menu category and article title font color? I need to change the gray font to something else. And there’s no option in the dashboard (perhaps you can add this in your next update too?). I only need to change the desktop category and article title font, not the responsive menu font color.

    6.) Finally, how do you change the color of the “Read More…” button? This was the only issue you didn’t address from my first post. I know that this will be a feature in the next theme version, but I need to make this change now.

    Thank you so much for your amazing support! You’ve redeemed yourself. Now that I’ve gotten in touch through these forums, I’m impressed with your support. Thank you!

    One more thing!

    7.) What line of CSS do I change to make the numeric pagination font larger? It’s too small on the mobile design.

    I’m so sorry. And an 8th and 9th thing:

    8.) What are the CSS lines for the text “You May Also Like”? I need to make the font larger and bold so it’s more noticeable.

    9.) And what are the CSS lines for the article titles in the “You May Also Like” section? I also need the font larger.

    THANK YOU! Is there any way I can give Y Themes a tip for all of this help? I would be very happy to.

    Hi,

    Thank you! I’m almost finished with my edits. I’m just still having these problems:

    1.) This didn’t seem to work:

    1. for getting the whole text content of menu item on slideout mobile menu, use this css:

    html.site-mobile-navigation ul li {
    white-space: normal;
    }

    I changed “normal” to the different CSS codes for white-space and none of them made any difference. (And yes, I saved the changes and refreshed my mobile browsers.)

    Also, is this edit supposed to change the main menu titles and also the sub-menu titles? I need both changed to appear on another line instead of truncated.

    —-

    2.) This works great! Thank you. But there’s one issue: Now at the top of my dropdown menus it says “All Array” instead of just “All”. I need it to say “All”.

    3. this is a bug in v1.0.3 when adding regular request for news mega menu, to resolve this issue, please download the attachment theme-interface.php.zip, extract and copy to parent theme directory/includes then overwrite the current one.

    —-

    3. For this, do you mean to change the color of the main categories, subcategories, and article titles to match the color of the little labels that overlay the images? I would LOVE to be able to do that. I didn’t think it was possible. If it’s not too complicated, I’d love to be able to do it. It’ll help greatly with organization and navigation.

    5. Surely you are thinking about changing color for the menu item, post title based on individual category accent color. i recommend you to use custom css because it’s handy and we can help providing you code for free!

    —-

    4. Finally, what about the non-hover button color? I got it to change the color when hovered over, but I can’t seem to find which CSS lines I should edit to change the non-hover button color. I’m trying to make the button standout even when a user doesn’t hover over it.

    6. We might forgot this request, please use this css temporarily:

    .more-tag.btn:hover {
    color: #FFF !important;
    background-color: #333;
    }

    —-

    That’s it! Everything else I was able to change without any problems.

    Again, if I can please send Y Themes a small tip, I’d be very happy to. Do you have a PayPal account?

      2. I’ll tell Jacob to look into this issue later.

      Thank you!!! I’m all set, I just need to hear back about this “All Array” issue as soon as possible.

      Thank you for all your help. Your support is amazing!

    Hi, since we’re on the topics of bugs in the desktop dropdown menu, I thought I’d mention that I see a bug causing some of the dates not to appear above the post titles (below the post featured images). It’s not for every post, but many.

    Just thought I’d let you know.

    Looking forward to future updates!

      Thanks very much! However, my themes-interface.php already seems to have this code:

      function yt_site_usual_mega_menu_by_category( $output, $mega_menu, $data_cat, $depth, $title ){

      		if( !$data_cat )
      			return $output;

      		if( $depth > 0 )
      			return $output;

      		if( empty( $mega_menu ) && 'news' !== $mega_menu )
      			return $output;

      		$output = '';

      	ob_start();

      		$category_list = explode(',', $data_cat);

      So I guess I don’t need to change it? I left it the same and then changed the line in theme-functions.php and it got rid of “All Array” and replaced it with the category titles. Now this brings me to one final thing:

      Is there any way to make the “All [Category Title]” actually link to those categories, rather than use “#” to keep users on the current page? I want them to actually go to the category pages just like in the header. That’d be great!

      Sure! Is it possible to do this now with a small tweak?

      Hi – Thank you. However, it’s not working right. Some of the “All [category]” are linking to my site’s homepage instead. Others are working, but then when you’re on the category page and you go to the menu, the “#” appears again for each “All [category]”. I’ll have to skip this issue for now. Perhaps you can fix it in an upcoming update or I’ll have to hire a developer to make the edits for me.

      Anyway, I’m going to mark this thread as resolved, as most of my other major problems are fixed.

      Thank you again for all the help!!

      The categories in question are marked the same as the others that work: “Category” and “News by Category” under “Mega Menu”.

      And then there’s still the issue of the menu not working correctly after you click on a category and are brought to the category page. The “All [Category]” links once again link to “#”.

      Appreciate the help anyway!

      One of the categories with the problem is a new category I created when I first installed Sparkle a few weeks ago. I believe I changed the title once. However, the other category with the problem was not changed and is a very old category.

      I’m going to hold off on this tweak because it still doesn’t address the problem of the “All [Category]” links going to “#” when you’re on a category page.

      Also, perhaps this is an update you can add to the next version of Sparkle instead of us making our own tweaks to the code? I think many other users would want this. It doesn’t make sense that the subcategories link to their correct category pages but the “All [Category]” at the top uses “#” and doesn’t go anywhere. It should link to the main parent category page just like the header does.

      It’s confusing my site visitors.

    One other thing I just noticed, that wasn’t addressed in this new version, is when a user taps on the little “hamburger” to open the sidebar on an iPhone (in the vertical position) and then taps the X to close the sidebar, the search button is activated and the search bar opens up. It’s just a small bug, but one to add a future to-fix list.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    I knew I’d have a few more questions:

    4.) I see that shortcodes are now enabled in ad codes sections. Are they also enabled in the sidebar “Text” widget? In the previous version I had to enable shortcodes for the “Text” sidebar widget in custom functions with:

    ;
    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');
    add_filter( 'yt_site_head_ads', 'yt_agag_allow_shortcode_on_adspace_07032014', 10, 1);
    add_filter( 'yt_site_foot_ads', 'yt_agag_allow_shortcode_on_adspace_07032014', 10, 1);
    add_filter( 'yt_site_single_post_ads_750x90', 'yt_agag_allow_shortcode_on_adspace_07032014', 10, 1);
    function yt_agag_allow_shortcode_on_adspace_07032014( $ads_content ){
    	$ads_content = yt_shortcode_unautop( $ads_content );
    	return $ads_content;
    }

    Do I still have to add this to the Sparkle child theme custom functions? Or maybe I should move the shortcodes to a sidebar ads widget instead? My shortcodes in the “Text” sidebar widget seem to be working OK, but I’m not sure if that’s because the file wasn’t overwritten on my server or if the updated version supports shortcodes in the sidebar or something else.

    5.) I think I found a small bug while testing the theme on an iPad. When I searched for something, the result appeared but the title of the article in the search result was not a link. It worked in the horizontal position, but in the vertical position it was an un-linked title. An iPhone works fine for both though.

    Thanks!

      Hi,

      Thanks for the quick reply! I’m glad to help out with improving the theme. We all benefit!

      A few more quick things…

      6.) Just to be sure, I add the below code to the child theme’s custom functions, correct?

      2. To append ellipsis to excerpt content, use this code:

      add_filter( 'the_content', 'add_my_ellipsis_08112014', 1);

      function add_my_ellipsis_08112014( $content ){

      	if( !is_single(  ))
      		return $content . '...';

      	return $content;

      };

      7.) What are the CSS lines to make the post title font larger for the responsive mobile theme? I find the titles to be a bit too small, especially when the post author name and categories are in CAPS. The titles need to POP more.

      8.) Lastly, regarding:

      5. I’ll test this issue when i got home and keep you posted!

      This is a MUCH bigger issue than I was originally thinking. I was testing the new theme some more and noticed that NO links are working on an iPad Mini in the vertical position. Titles don’t link, neither category tags, author names, comment links, or “Read More…” buttons. Also, I noticed the issue in Firefox and Safari (latest versions) when I narrowed my windows to activate the mobile design. The links are fine as a desktop, then don’t work as soon as it switches to mobile theme and smaller title font size.

      Definitely look into this as soon as possible.

      Everything else seems to be working quite well. Some things I would have done differently but I’m impressed with the improvements.

      Thank you again!

        9.) One more thing. Is this still the correct CSS code to use to change the button color and hover color? The hover no longer seems to be working.

        }
        .more-tag.btn:hover {
        	color: #fff !important;
        	background-color: #29aae2;
        }
        .more-tag.btn {
        	color: #fff !important;
        	background-color: #0a4063;
        }

        Thank you!

    10.) I’m sorry! But I just noticed that the ellipsis code below is causing an ellipsis to appear at the bottom of every page. Doesn’t seem to be on post pages but actual pages.

    add_filter( 'the_content', 'add_my_ellipsis_08112014', 1);

    function add_my_ellipsis_08112014( $content ){

    	if( !is_single(  ))
    		return $content . '...';

    	return $content;

    };

      Thanks again for your help. My site link is: http://www.lyved.com It’s still happening, on all links for the titles, buttons, etc. on home page, category pages, and search results.

      One more thing. Is this still the correct CSS code to use to change the button color and hover color? The hover no longer seems to be working…

      if that’s a complete code, there’s was unexpected closing braces ( } ) before hover state. just remove it.

      No, that is not my complete CSS code, so I don’t think that’s the problem with the hover state for Read More… buttons. Here is my full CSS code:

      /* Custom CSS*/
      .yt-posts-with-thumnail-widget .post-list li article a strong {
      font-size: 25px; /*increase your size you wish to*/
      }
      .site-banner{
      min-height:72px;/*current value*/
      }
      .site-banner .site-logo{
      line-height: 72px;
      max-height: 72px;
      }
      .main-navigation ul.menu>li>a, .main-navigation ul.menu>li>span{
      line-height:72px;
      }
      html .site-mobile-navigation ul.menu>li{
      font-size:18px;/*Change your custom value*/
      }
      .single-post .site-content[role="main"]>article.post{
      	padding-bottom:2px;
      }
      html .site-header.fixed-site-banner .site-banner{ opacity:1;}
      html .main-navigation ul.menu>li.mega-menu-dropdown>.mega-menu-container{ background: #FFF;}
      }
      .more-tag.btn:hover {
      	color: #fff !important;
      	background-color: #29aae2;
      }
      .more-tag.btn {
      	color: #fff !important;
      	background-color: #0a4063;
      }
      .you-might-also-like-articles > h3{
      	font-size:25px;
      	font-weight:bold;
      }
      .you-might-also-like-articles .post-list-with-thumbnail li.post-with-large-thumbnail h2{
      	font-size:20px;
      }
      html .site-mobile-navigation ul li {
      white-space: normal;
      }
      @media (max-width: 991px){
      	.single-post .site-content article h1.entry-title,
      	.site-content article h2.entry-title {
      		font-size: 32px;
      	}
      }

      Thank you again!

      Thanks, CSS fixed!

      Also i want to notice that there was an error encountered while loading the page, this might be the cause of link issue in touch screen and it came from plugins, please deactivate 3rd party plugins one by one to test them out.

      I deactivate all my 3rd-party plugins one at a time and tested the links one at a time. None of the plugins seem to be the problem.

      Do you have any other details on the error you encountered?

      I wanted to note that the header logo link, slide out menu, below-header ad location, sidebar links (that are pushed to the bottom), and footer of the mobile theme all work fine. Also, on all my site’s pages (such as the Contact page), none of the links work either while viewing in the vertical mobile position.

      Hope that helps!

    Hi,

    I really don’t feel comfortable giving out login info to my site. My site is very popular and a business. I just cannot take the risk. However, I’ve been looking into the issue some more and I’ve noticed something:

    The issue with the links not working happens when the responsive mobile theme kicks in until about 840 pixels wide, then the problem goes away with any screens smaller than that. So it’s 991 pixels (when the mobile design activates?) to around 840 pixels when the smaller mobile design activates.

    Could it be something with my CSS code? Here is my full CSS customizations again:

    /* Custom CSS*/
    .yt-posts-with-thumnail-widget .post-list li article a strong {
    font-size: 25px; /*increase your size you wish to*/
    }
    .site-banner{
    min-height:72px;/*current value*/
    }
    .site-banner .site-logo{
    line-height: 72px;
    max-height: 72px;
    }
    .main-navigation ul.menu>li>a, .main-navigation ul.menu>li>span{
    line-height:72px;
    }
    html .site-mobile-navigation ul.menu>li{
    font-size:18px;/*Change your custom value*/
    }
    .single-post .site-content[role="main"]>article.post{
    	padding-bottom:2px;
    }
    html .site-header.fixed-site-banner .site-banner{ opacity:1;}
    html .main-navigation ul.menu>li.mega-menu-dropdown>.mega-menu-container{ background: #FFF;}
    }
    .more-tag.btn:hover {
    	color: #fff !important;
    	background-color: #29aae2;
    }
    .more-tag.btn {
    	color: #fff !important;
    	background-color: #0a4063;
    }
    .you-might-also-like-articles > h3{
    	font-size:25px;
    	font-weight:bold;
    }
    .you-might-also-like-articles .post-list-with-thumbnail li.post-with-large-thumbnail h2{
    	font-size:20px;
    }
    html .site-mobile-navigation ul li {
    white-space: normal;
    }
    @media (max-width: 991px){
    	.single-post .site-content article h1.entry-title,
    	.site-content article h2.entry-title {
    		font-size: 32px;
    	}
    }

    Thank you!

      No, I do not have the issue on your demo site. However, I believe my site is set up a bit differently than the demo. For my site, I’m using the “Your latest posts” setting and a 2-column layout. I did not set up my site to use a “static” page or 3-column layout. Not sure if that matters.

      I deactivated each of my plugins and the issue still remains.

      As for the errors you’re seeing, do you have any other details? It seems the errors are coming from my site’s commenting system Disqus, Google Adsense, and “Gstatic” which I think is something with Google and favicons. I disabled Disqus and the links problem still happens. I also removed my site’s Adsense code from the sidebar (where it only appears on the homepage) and the link problem remains.

      Also, I’ve decided I’m not going to give out login or other backend info to my site, through a forum or otherwise. I really do appreciate your help though. I may have to hire someone to fix the different issues I’m having with this theme.

    The attachment (without adding that CSS line) seems to have done the trick! Thank you! However, I noticed a new, small problem. When I click on the search icon, this appear above the search bar:

    Warning: _() expects exactly 1 parameter, 2 given in /nfs/c02/h12/mnt/45924/domains/lyved.com/html/wp-content/themes/yeahthemes-sparkle/includes/theme-interface.php on line 2405

    Looks like something in the new php file creating a problem.

    Thank you again!

    Hello again,

    Besides the issue above regarding the search bar error, I think I have one final, small issue to fix before I mark this thread as “resolved.”

    I have a 21-inch monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution. I’ve recently noticed that my site’s logo looks quite blurry in Firefox, while it looks fine in all my other browsers on the same monitor. It seems like the logo is being stretched out in FF. It appears slightly smaller and much sharper in the other browsers. It also seems like FF is displaying the category title text in the header slightly larger as well.

    I can’t recall if this was happening before the recent update, but is there any way to fix this?

    Here’s my customized CSS again, if that could be causing the problem:

    /* Custom CSS*/
    .yt-posts-with-thumnail-widget .post-list li article a strong {
    font-size: 25px; /*increase your size you wish to*/
    }
    .site-banner{
    min-height:72px;/*current value*/
    }
    .site-banner .site-logo{
    line-height: 72px;
    max-height: 72px;
    }
    .main-navigation ul.menu>li>a, .main-navigation ul.menu>li>span{
    line-height:72px;
    }
    html .site-mobile-navigation ul.menu>li{
    font-size:18px;/*Change your custom value*/
    }
    .single-post .site-content[role="main"]>article.post{
    	padding-bottom:2px;
    }
    html .site-header.fixed-site-banner .site-banner{ opacity:1;}
    html .main-navigation ul.menu>li.mega-menu-dropdown>.mega-menu-container{ background: #FFF;}
    }
    .more-tag.btn:hover {
    	color: #fff !important;
    	background-color: #29aae2;
    }
    .more-tag.btn {
    	color: #fff !important;
    	background-color: #0a4063;
    }
    .you-might-also-like-articles > h3{
    	font-size:25px;
    	font-weight:bold;
    }
    .you-might-also-like-articles .post-list-with-thumbnail li.post-with-large-thumbnail h2{
    	font-size:20px;
    }
    html .site-mobile-navigation ul li {
    white-space: normal;
    }
    @media (max-width: 991px){
    	.single-post .site-content article h1.entry-title,
    	.site-content article h2.entry-title {
    		font-size: 32px;
    	}
    }

    Thanks again for all the help!

    Thank you! The search bar is fixed.

    As for the logo, I just uploaded a 342 x 144 pixel version of it. It did look even sharper on Chrome and other browsers, but it was still slightly blurry in Firefox and had the added issue of hanging off the sliding header bar. Is there something else I’m missing? I edited my CSS to add a taller header, as seen in my CSS code above, could that cause an issue?

    Thanks!

      So there’s nothing that we can do? Or can we somehow upload a second logo that only displays in FF? Is there a temporary fix for this and then maybe you can add an option in the next update to allow people to upload a FF-only logo?

      I also noticed that FF is stretching out the banner image I have embedded in my site’s below header ad space, and other images on my site.

      Very frustrating!

    Thanks for continuing to improve the theme! Just two quick questions:

    1.) With the new version, do I still need to install “theme-interface.php_1.zip” from an earlier post in this thread? The update was to fix an issue with links not being clickable in certain mobile sizes.

    2.) Was the Sparkle theme affected by the recent Envato security problem? If so, what should be do?

    Thank you!

    Thank you so much! I’ll be working on these fixes in the next few days and I’ll report back as “resolved” when I’m finished. Thanks again!

    5. I have one other final thing that I just thought of after you mentioned that the next update might not allow for people to change the button color:

    When I originally purchased the theme, I was told that in the next version of Sparkle there will be a thin, gray line border between the body and sidebar of the two-column layout. Is this true? And can I add this in now? I’m using the two-column layout and without a border, it really feels like the body and sidebar are running together. Can I fix this?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    I just wanted to say that the new version of Sparkle is great! Love the design and features you’ve added it. Even more professional looking and thank you for fixing some of the bugs and issues. I’ve been inspecting my site and there doesn’t seem to be any major problems after updating. However, I just have 3 small issues:

    1.) What is the CSS line that I can edit to remove the header and dropdown opacity? The transparency is nice but I need both to be solid for my site.

    2.) Perhaps I was seeing things, but didn’t the truncated posts on the homepage, archives, and search page have an ellipsis … to indicate that the text was shortened? Now it doesn’t and simple stops. Is there any way I can add the ellipsis back in?

    3. Some of my posts in the dropdown are not displaying their date. I noticed this in the earlier version of Sparkle and it’s still persisting. It’s not with every post and I’m wondering if it might be an issue with just my site. Anyway, I’m curious if others had this issue.

    That’s it for now! I’m still inspecting my site in different browsers and operating systems but things are looking great. Thanks again for listening to our feedback!
