Hey guys!
Love your theme and I’ve been getting lots of compliments on it.
I have a question about embedding Instagram and Youtube as ‘Featured Images’ see screenshot attached. Where you can choose NOT to have a still image as the featured post but rather embed the instagram or video as the feature.
My website is http://www.perthgirl.com.au – I have an article on mechanical bull riding recently done and I’ve been and been wanting to have my instagram video in that article as the FEATURE when on the home page feed.
I thought clicking on ‘post format’ in the back end (changing it to Video, or a ‘link’) would help – but it doesn’t seem to work. Is this where I have to install a plug-in that allows me to do what you’ve done in the screenshot attached? Or is there a shortcode I’m missing?
Look forward to your reply!

Hello Jacob
I am really sorry for the late reply – I’ve been on holiday.
Thank you for your help. This frustrates me because I know it should be easy – but I’m having trouble with this one still.
I know how to do the ’embed url before more tag with a part of post content’ bit. I just need clarification on how to disable disable thumbnail for specific post formats in a single post?
For some reason it’s only half working for me…..
It’s only choosing to pull the caption from my instagram embed, but not actually the image that accompanies it. So it’s appearing just as a heap of text (minus the image) see below:
Monochrome #fashion, in my opinion, never goes out of style. Choose a black & white pattern that compliments the flow of your body shape to create a classy, form-fitting silhouette. I think this is where I might not be disabling the thumb thing properly and wanted clarification on how to do that. I’m very stubborn and tried for a long time to try and do this before bothering you again Jacob! Sorry but this is one thing that I can’t figure out why it’s not pulling the image along with the caption!
Look forward to your reply as always

Hi Maxxi,
Thanks for the reply.
Okay so it looks like this:

Monochrome fashion in my opinion, never goes out of style. Sleek and sophisticated monochrome is still a big trend and high street shops like Topshop, American Apparel, and Zara are awash with gorgeous black and white pieces. Casting off its Sixties connotations for good, designers play with all manner of decorative devices to give black and white a fresh, modern makeover. Monochrome featuring pattern play, couture detailing and geometrics look distinctive, a touch edgy but still feminine.
Black is a stable in any girls wardrobe………….
I just realised I might not have been properly embedding the instagram image (I was just originally copying and pasting the instagram URL on its own, but then this time round I clicked on ‘Add Media’ and then Inserted from URL and pasted the instragram link that way to produce the embed code.
I’ve also tried changing up the featured image post type to ‘Link’ and ‘Image’ instead of leaving it on Standard but that didn’t do anything either.
Look forward to your reply 😀

Hi Jacob
Thanks for your help, but yeah – I’ve done exactly that – I get what you mean, but the instagram image isn’t showing up at all, only the caption – I’ve put it on Imgur for you to see what I mean, as well as what the visual editor looks like:
Do you have the format set to standard? And also, in theme options > blog settings > single post > hide post formats of thumbnails – do i need to click on anything on there?

Curious about this as well, because they told me to use the “more” tag as well for videos to be the featured image and that didn’t work, either.
